Who We Are
Akil Beshir started his career by teaching mathematics in Cairo University after graduating from Faculty of Engineering in 1966. He then joined Al-Ahram Organization as a computer programmer and systems analyst in 1969. In 1974 he participated in establishing Giza Systems Engineering and in 1978 he became partner and CEO. In 2000, Beshir was appointed as an Executive Chairman of Telecom Egypt, the incumbent telecom operator of Egypt, and later a non-executive Chairman from 2009 till his resignation in 2012. He was appointed as a non-executive Vice Chairman of Orascom Telecom Media and Technology (OTMT) in 2010 which was later renamed Orascom Investment Holding (OIH). In 2021 he became non-executive Chairman of OIH. In 2021 he was appointed as non-executive Chairman of Summit Technology Solutions (STS). Since 2019, Beshir also serves as a board member of Arab African International Leasing Company.
Magda El-Sabee is the CEO of Summit group. Magda has over 25 years of experience in the ICT market with focus on areas including strategic planning, general management, organizational development, sales & marketing, formulation and provision of technical services, corporate startups and turnarounds. She led the transformation and the restructure of the group from decentralized independent companies to one of the largest ICT groups in the region. Magda was the chairperson of the ICT committee at the American chamber in Egypt from 2008 till 2013. She served as a board member for the Egyptian Information Technology Industry Development Agency(ITIDA) between 2011 to 2013. She was also a member of the Egyptian-US Business leaders council between 2009 and 2011. El-Sabee holds a bachelor of Communication Engineering from Cairo University and a Master of Business Administration from the American University of Cairo. Prior to joining the Orascom group, Magda worked in the field of IT consultation and services with Oracle Middle East and Price Waterhouse Consulting Services.
Summit Board Member
Dr. Darwish received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of California, Davis in 1988. He received many awards among them; Egyptian National Engineering Award (1999), Singapore Middle East Eminent Persons Award (2007) and the Life Time Achievement Medal for his distinguished career from University of California, Davis (2017).
His 2 last public positions were Minister of State for Administration Development (2004-2011) with a portfolio of eGov, Institutional Development and Governance and Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (2015-2017) where he laid the foundation of one of largest Special Economic Zones in the world (461 sq km and 6 ports).
He is a consultant to a number of international organizations (UNDP, WHO, UNICEF, UNIDO, UNESCO, FAO, ESCWA, European Union and World Bank), government organizations and companies in Egypt, Middle East, Africa, Europe and United States.
Solid analytic thinker, creative and with significant negotiation and interpersonal skills developed over twenty years of venture capital, M&A, strategy and business development experience, complemented with rigorous studies and qualifications. Proven track record in leading and working with multicultural teams. Able to rapidly analyse and isolate business issues, propose and demonstrate innovative solutions and implement them to exceed planned outcomes and expectations. He served as a board member for a lot of National and Multinational organization.
