Algeria 's El Kendi Pharmaceutical Selects Summit as its ICT
Financial & logistics Solution provider | | | Summit, an Orascom & Sumitomo Corporation and the leading ICT and business solutions provider in the region, has been chosen by El Kendi Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company- one of Algeria’s up and coming pharmaceuticals manufacturers - to help set all the financial and logistics systems in its new plant in Algeria. The project will be executed through Orascom Technology Solutions (OTS) and Qemmah, both are Summit subsidiary companies.
El Kendi is laying the foundation for a robust ICT system to better control its financial cycle and inventory. Summit’s solution to El Kendi will enable it to become a market leader while controlling its budget and manufacturing process through offering a total integrated solution that combines a hardware platform solution based on HP technology.The solution wasdelivered and installed by the Algeria team of OTS (Orascom Technology Solutions).
Summit's solution to El Kendi also comprises an application platform based on Oracle E-Business Suite, which was implemented by Qemmah Consulting & Information Technology. The first phase of the project will implement the modules for certainfinancial and logistics processes namely General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, Inventory, Purchasing, and Reports.
Commenting on the project, Mohamed Nabil, Country Manager, at OTS in Algeria said " This project is considered a milestone in the pharmaceuticals industry in Algeria since it is the first time that an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is implemented in this industry ". He added that this will enable EL Kendi to lead the Algerian market through using high-tech technology to better manage its resources, which will lead to improvements in production efficiency.
 Meanwhile, Medhat El Leissy, Chief Executive Officer of Qemmah Consulting & Information Technology, expressed his satisfaction regarding El Kendi project performance, and said that “ Building on the successful partnership we have with El Kendi, we are looking forward to start phase two of the project that covers the implementation of the manufacturing track to achieve full automation of El Kendi operations.â€Â
It is worth mentioning that El Kendi, the Algerian-Saudi company, new plant in Algeria is set to begin production of 16 medicines in 2008, growing to 66 by 2009. With an annual production capacity of 290 million units, representing a 65% market share. | |
